The OCCA Communities Association is incorporated under BC Society Act on November 4, 2010 and registered with Revenue Canada as a Charity Organization on Sep.21, 2011.

Mission & Vision

Our goal is to promote the mutual understanding, respect, and acceptance among diverse communities in the Okanagan, to build partnerships with all levels of governments and, to encourage and facilitate the full participation of immigrants and descendants in the social, cultural and economic life of the Okanagan region.

We will reach our goal via (the Purpose of Society when registered as a Canadian charity organization):

  1. To develop, promote and increase the public appreciation of Chinese culture and history by providing seminars and Chinese celebrations.
  2. To provide services to new immigrants in need, such as language training, job placement and translation services for medical, legal and other appointment.
  3. To provide educational programs to youth to teach them about Chinese traditions and heritage.

Seven directors are elected at AGM on Dec.17, 2017 for the board term 2018-19. In 2018 a special resolution is passed to change the board term from 2 years to 3 years. The current term is 2018-2020. Yong Gao is invited to the board in Dec. 2018 for operation need as per the Bylaw.


The annual membership dues are $10/family and $5/individual.

Members can participate many of the OCCA activities free of charge or at discounted rates although the OCCA Communities Association activities and services open to general public.

Members must be age 16 or older. Participants of children activities (at free or discounted rate) require family membership.

Member renewal and renew services are offered at all OCCA Communities Association events and activity sites. For new member application, click here to download a member application form or pick up a printed blank form at the OCCA Communities Association operation site 555 Fuller Avenue. Completed application can be emailed to or dropped in the mail box at Fuller site. Application is not required for renewing membership.
