OCCA Job Connect for Youth

Recruiting youth participants

The OCCA Job Connect for Youth Program is recruiting youth participants. The hourly wage at $20/hour will be paid to youth (20-30 years old) to participate in scheduled activities. We encourage university and college students and graduates to participate, especially welcome those in the field of sociology and social work. Questions and Answers

The program activities online are open to all ages to participate free of charge. Email to info@occabc.ca  to register and receive information. Qualified Youth (age 20-30) will be paid for their time to participate in activities. All personal information will be kept strictly confidential. We received many questions since the first announcement. The following are our responses.

 

Q 1. Why does the program pay Youth for participation?

A 1  Youth are the future of Canada. Many of them are struggling due to the inflation of tuition and living expenses of college and university education. The OCCA is determined to help Youth with secured government and foundation funds.

 

Q 2.  What are the criteria to be paid to participate?

A 2.

- Youth (age 20-30) of Canadian citizens or permanent residents. If the budget permits, Youth with open work permits may be considered.

- Applicants must submit their resumes for per-approval.

- Approved youth payee must participate in all scheduled group activities.  Payments will be made at end of Nov and Feb. 

 

Q 3. What activities will be organized?

- Webinars or workshops about all topics of employment in Canada. Professional guest speakers will be invited to facilitate these activities. The schedule will be emailed to all registrants in advance.

- Individual consultations and job coaching.

 

Q 4. How and when the sessions will be held?

A 4.

- via Zoom meeting on the 2nd Saturday of each month starting September 12th, 10 am.  The link will be emailed to all one day in advance.

- more sessions may be added if interesting topics occur.

 

Q 5. Are you recruiting staff for the OCCA or helping participants to be employed with other companies?

A 5.

- The program will help participants to be prepared for employment and to be employed.

- We may offer paid tasks in the OCCA to selected participants for practice and mutual benefits.

- We hope to pass the words around: the OCCA has a position opening for an executive director (ED) or an ED associate. These positions require education in management and a minimum 5 years of working experience in charity/non for profit sectors.
