JCF SUCCESS STORY

David's Story: Building a Better Future

Before starting this OCCA program, my wife and I were both improving English proficiency, with no stable jobs and steady income. We have two children, one of whom has a disability. This situation brought immense pressure and anxiety into our lives. It was crucial for my family that I could find a stable job.
The OCCA course provides professional training for finding jobs in Canada, including workplace culture, interview training, resume revision, and identifying career strengths. More importantly, it offers various potential job opportunities and networking connections. This course is incredibly meaningful and practical, grounded in the realities of the job market.
Through the course, I found a stable job, which allows my family and children to live happily and comfortably. We can now enjoy weekend breakfasts together, sip coffee, and appreciate the beauty of life. More importantly, I have the opportunity to further my education with professional courses, opening the door to more specialized and challenging roles in the future.
“The OCCA program provided me with a crucial starting point for my career and brought a wonderful beginning to my family's life in Canada,” David said.
The OCCA-JCF program is funded by the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills and the RBC Foundation. It offers Canadian workplace training through the partnership of the OCCA Communities Association and Okanagan College in Central Okanagan. OCCA also connects the JCF participants with employers, providing subsidies to help them gain valuable Canadian work experience and overcome typical job search challenges encountered by immigrants.
