 Quote from OFC:

“This tragedy has shaken our community to its core. We are gathering for a vigil tomorrow night to remember the lives lost, to grieve together, and to find strength in one another. As immigrants, we have built our lives and our community here in Canada, and we are deeply thankful for the support and solidarity we have received from the wider community in the wake of this tragedy. We hope that by coming together, we can honour the lives of our fellow community and family members who have been affected,” said Bella Mockford, President of the Okanagan Filipino Canadian Society (OFC) and Board Director of the OCCA Communities Association.

 Quote from OCCA:

“Our hearts are broken alongside the Filipino community as we mourn this unimaginable loss. Tomorrow, we will join our partners at the Okanagan Filipino Canadian Society for a vigil to honour the victims and show our unwavering support. The Filipino community has been integral in helping us weave the very fabric of our shared home. We will also observe a moment of silence at the start of our Asian Heritage Month Opening on Saturday, May 3 at 2:00 pm, standing together in grief, remembrance, and solidarity,” said Fei Liu, Executive Director of the OCCA Communities Association.

OCCA is also hosting the Asian Heritage Month Opening Ceremony on Saturday, May 3, at the Metro Hub in downtown Kelowna and will have a moment of silence at the beginning of the event to honour the victims of the attack.
